Far Lands Base

This has been my main base for the last couple of years. The big draw is a villager breeding contraption, and a wide assortment of enchantment sellers and traders - and a deep hole, and a tall tower.

I explored this spot in order to get some new nether chunks that had Ancient Debris. It started as a simple house, which is still there.

As usual, I expanded with some farmland.

Underworks

During the pandemic, I decided to dig a hole. A big, big hole. There was a river nearby so I decided to make a dam and have waterfalls going down.

Let's keep going down. Originally, this was where I got diamonds. Yes, this base dates back to before the caves update.

Look! A slime farting around.

I didn't realize new cave update terrain would spawn below. I'm glad it didn't mess up the hole. Isaac and I explored this a bit.

Villager Friends

Unless you're playing with a buddy, Minecraft can be a lonely game. Fortunately, you can make friends! With a redstone contraption!

Not morally questionable at all.

This villager breeding contraption really does the trick. You can turn it on and off, and when you're ready, it shoots the villagers down a minecart track right into their little stalls.

Look how happy they are.

Here's some more angles of the breeder.

These two are the mom and dad of all my villager friends.
Too busy to turn around and say hi.
When I want a new buddy, I press a button and they scoot down the track.
This shows the on/off switch, and a few farmer traders in the back.

The Great Tower

I would call this the first Great Wonder of Dan's First World. Do you remember that hole from earlier? I took all the stone from that and built this:

Behold!
Behold!

The great tower serves many purposes. First, it is a monument to industry and time spent playing Minecraft. Keep in mind, I didn't have a beacon to do all that mining.

Second, it gives me something to jump off of for Elytra trips.

It's the jumpoff

Other stuff around the base

This base is very complete. See the gallery below for the storage room and other features.

Netherite Works

As I mentioned earlier, the big motivation to build here was to get at Ancient Debris chunks from the 1.16 update. I built a large minehead here.

On the Nether side of the portal, there's a fairly significant hub. And .. chickens.

Creeper Farm

A creeper farm is a great thing to have, unlocking infinite Elytra flight and infinite TNT.

The spindle is a ladder to an AFK platform, where you sit while the creepers grind.
